Getting to Osea is all part of the adventure, whether by land, air or sea, there is an access option to suit every guest. The first important fact to note, is that Osea is a tidal island, meaning that our Roman-built Causeway is above water and passable for two 4-hour windows every 24 hours. These times do change every day, but not to worry, we have them mapped out to the minute for the next two years.
Self-driving
Crossing our tidal causeway is an experience like no other. Built by the Romans over 2000 years ago, it still winds its way across the seabed. There are two 4 hour crossing windows every 24 hours, after which the road disappears 4 metres deep under the sea. When driving to the island please set your satnav for CM9 4SA. This will not take you all the way to the island, however, upon booking we will provide you with more comprehensive access instructions.
Helicopter
Arrive with speed and style, just a 20-minute flight from Battersea, there is no easier way to get to Osea. No need to worry about access times, as a helicopter is the only 24-hour access method. With prices from £300 per person, each way, flying to Osea is the ultimate way to arrive, with stunning views of London and the Essex countryside and coast en-route.
Boat
When arriving by road just doesn’t work for you, don’t worry! We work closely with a local water taxi firm that can provide trips to the island outside of the road access windows. Trips need to be pre-booked through our London office, and can take 6 people at a time. Trips are £60 each way during daylight hours, and variable after dark.
Train + Taxi
If you are not planning to drive to the island then you can very easily get a train from London Liverpool Street to Witham Station, and then a taxi from Witham to Osea. Trains run every 15 minutes, and take approximately 40 minutes. There is only one taxi company that will cross our Causeway, and this can be booked via 07854376237 . If you have any issues with booking please do let us know.
